An argumentative essay is a succinct piece of writing in which the student is required to collect details, investigate the authenticity of the subject, analyze all the information, examine the evidence and link the topic to the information gathered or to facts already known.
Expository essays are often difficult to write because students are required to investigate an idea, analyze the available evidence, examine the details and provide an argument proving the veracity of the topic briefly and lucidly.
Narrative essays are often referred to as story-essays. The student is required to tell a story, describe a personal experience or recount an event. These essays allow the student to make full use of his or her creative and imaginative ingenuity.
